We know hats only look stylish when they fit your head properly. There's nothing worse than a hat that slips down or fits too tightly. That's why it is so important to find the right hat size before you shop.
To measure hat size, take a string and wrap it around your head. Measure the distance with a ruler. Then use the hat size chart above to perform a size conversion.

Steps to Measure Hat Size

Follow these steps to determine your hat size and get the perfect fit. The correct fitting hat makes you look your absolute best.

  1. Wrap a string around the back of your head approximately 1/8" above your ears. Meet the two ends at the center of your forehead just above your eyebrows as shown in the diagram. The string should be comfortably wrapped around your forehead, not too tight and not too loose.

  2. Take the string from around your head and lay it on the ruler. Measure the distance rounding the measurement up to the nearest 1/8".

  3. Compare the measurement to the hat size chart below and use the conversion to find the corresponding hat size.

For example, we measured 22 inches. Using the hat size chart, we can see our general hat size is Medium.

Please Note: Not all hats will fit the same. Hat sizing is not a perfect science. Many factors affect the fit of a hat such as manufacturers, material and even your hairstyle. This chart is a helpful guide and an approximation of size.

General hat sizes use words; Small, Medium, Large and X-Large. Match yours to the type of hat you plan to buy.

When buying a hat keep in mind that different manufacturers have slightly different types of crowns, and you may want to buy hats slightly larger depending on how you will wear them.
